Touchdown Jesus, Notre Dame Stadium
For any of you who aren't my friends on facebook, I just updated my status as follows:
"Peter M Lopez can smell football season in the air, ahhh. I expect Texas to win the national championship, narrowly defeating Notre Dame 35-34 in the championship game, and the Dallas Cowboys to win the Superbowl."
This would, of course, be my dream scenario...but, for the first time in many, many years, this is not such a laughable possibility.
So, what does this have to do with the Bible? Well, let's see, having been born and raised Catholic, "Touchdown Jesus" is iconic. The only acceptable defeat for the Irish would be to the Texas Longhorns. "Touchdown Jesus" is also perhaps the greatest legend in football...
...second only to the hole in the roof of Texas Stadium so God can watch the Cowboys.
